NZ Native Front Garden | Torbay

Site Transformation

Gently descending steps guide visitors through swathes of Coprosma and Carex grasses punctuated by sculptural boulders that anchor the garden into the coastal landscape.

A Maori Princess pōhutukawa provides iconic seasonal colour, while the Pitt Island nīkau brings vertical interest and a bold, subtropical touch.

Project Plan Image

The Plan

Hardy, wind-tolerant natives were selected for their texture, form, and year-round structure — creating a front garden that feels grounded, uniquely local, and visually striking.

The Plant Palette

This coastal front garden was designed to celebrate the beauty and resilience of NZ native plant life. The naturalistic planting palette thrives in the coastal conditions of the site, offering a lush yet low-maintenance welcome to the home.
